“While I don’t have an autoimmune disease I have been taking blood pressure medication for many years and two years ago I was diagnosed with AFIB (requiring new meds). I have also put on a few extra pounds over the years that I am sure has contributed to some of my health/heart issues. So, I consulted with Julie and she made some great recommendations including things to read that were directed at my weight/heart issues. Recommendations included what not to eat (sugar and grains) and when to eat. While I am only about a month and a half into this new way of eating I am very pleased to report that I have lost almost 10 pounds. More surprising to me is that after only a day or two on the new regime my morning blood pressure dropped significantly. Prior to starting my blood pressure had been, on average, 145/78 and subsequently it dropped to 126/69 (and has stayed there). I have also noticed that my resting heartrate has dropped. I have personally seen patients with Julie, and I know she is good at what she does. Her physical sciences background and personality, coupled with her nutritional training and personal journey, position her well to educate and coach people through the sometimes difficult journey to adherence to the Autoimmune Protocol diet (AIP.) I routinely hand out copies of her Autoimmune Quickstart to patients to introduce them to the principles of the AIP. This dietary protocol has helped improve the quality of life for many of these patients with an inflammatory component to their Neurologic disease. And her advice is practical and personal, since she practices what she preaches.
